Job Description

The Director of Human Resources is a strategic partner responsible for leading and managing all aspects of human resources within the organization.

Overview of Position

This role will oversee talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and compliance with employment laws. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of HR practices, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Manage departmental activities, develop goals, review procedures and directs and prioritizes staff.
  • Develop, analyze implications, recommend, implement and interpret human resource policies and practices for the organization to facilitate governmental reporting, selection, discipline, compensation and benefits administration in accordance with strategic direction and government regulations.
  • Counsel appropriate staff in legal and correct administration of human resource policies, employment and labor laws and documentation.
  • Supervise communication of human resource policies to entire organization.
  • Conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
  • Monitor and supervise maintenance and submission of legally required employment documentation.
  • Leads competitive market research to establish pay practices and pay bands that help to recruit and retain superior staff.
  • Monitors all pay practices and systems for effectiveness and cost containment.
  • Keeps the CEO and the executive team informed of significant problems that jeopardize the achievement of company goals, and those that are not being addressed adequately at the line management level.
  • Conducts a continuing study of all Human Resources policies, programs, and practices to keep management informed of new developments.
  • Develop corporate-wide recruitment policies and strategies and manage all recruitment activities as requested.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of company policies and procedures.
  • Develop recruiting sources and recruit, screen and recommend qualified applicants for employment, write and place employment advertisements.
  • Counsel and assist employees with problems and questions relating to personnel policies and procedures.
  • Develop and conduct employee training and development programs.
  • Monitor and ensure company compliance with government immigration hiring laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development.
  • Ten plus years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions.
  • 5 plus year of manufacturing HR experience
  • Experience on multi-generational family owned business
  • Certified SHRM-SCP or HRCI SPHR preferred
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop Human Resources staff members.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with the company Chairman of the Board of Directors.
  • Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, and training and development.
  • Above average oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a successful participant on the executive management team that provides company leadership and direction.
